Hunting Season in Oxford

Every Miami student recently got the following email:

To the Oxford Community:

Please be aware:  Oxford police report a felonious assault in the 5000 block of Brown Road in the early morning hours on Sunday, April 10.

A female student reported to Oxford police that she and a male visitor were both struck in the leg by either a BB gun or pellet gun while standing in front of a window inside their third floor apartment on April 10.  No description of the suspect was reported.  Both victims refused medical treatment at the time of the report.

If you have information about this incident, please contact Oxford police at 524-5240.  If you notice someone acting suspiciously, please call 911 immediately.

Now despite my obvious human instincts of concern for the victims and horror of such an atrocious crime, this made me laugh a little bit. Who would choose a BB gun as their weapon of choice when they decide to exact revenge (or whatever other motive the sniper might have had)? I want to know who these two people are that warranted them an assassination attempt? So many unanswered questions....

"You'll shoot your eye out!" Or your leg....

(Obviously we hope the two victims are safe and unharmed.)
